What's in a name
Diafade Business Communications
 

We started out in 1978 designing and producing slide projector dissolve systems, which smoothly fade one image into another (see the Audio Visual page for more details). Such systems were popular at the time in Europe, France in particular.

Needing a name for our new equipment, we took the 'European' name for a slide or transparency ('diapositive' in French, 'Diapositiv' in German, both normally abbreviated to 'Dia') and added it to 'fade'. Et voilà!

It seemed like a good idea for the company to take the equipment name.

Formally we are Diafade Limited. In the early days we used 'Diafade Audio Visual' in publicity, just to be sure that people knew. Nowadays we tend to use 'Diafade Business Communications' as the best description of what we do that we can think of. Only occasionally do people think we sell mobile phones, which we don't...
